The check-in outfit for the conference was pretty casual. I knew I would be standing, so sneakers were a must. The top was a polo-style cardigan, and the trousers were a splurge, but I spotted a similar pair at Target ($32). My Coach bag (Lana) was a new purchase, and I was asked about it so much all day long! It’s a great size if you actually have things you need to carry, but not so bulky that you feel overloaded. I really love the all-in-one handle; it looks sleek.

My Walmart shacket stole the show; I think it is sold out in this wash, but it comes in a darker one that I equally like. I’ve seen similar styles for hundreds of dollars. I wore it as a shirt, but it would be great unbuttoned with a tank top or, later, a turtleneck. The bag is from Anthropologie, but I have a pretty good swap from Amazon that I have in 3 colors. I love it in the metallic.

Around the hotel and for a coffee run, I wore a casual cream outfit in neutral plaid from Aerie. Their fabrics always feel great and it didn’t disappoint. It fits oversized on its own. The crop cami is available in several colors, and I picked up these taupe suede Birkenstock’s before the trip. Walmart has a similar style in black that I have had for years. You might still be able to pick up a pair; they were on clearance for $8.

I wore a pair of side-slit jeans and a lightweight sweater in the evening for dinner. The sweater has an asymmetrical design and a unique side button that I loved. I know I will reach for this a lot during cooler weather, especially when I need something that is a step up from an everyday crewneck. I recently ordered a version from Amazon that has a neutral color and a collar, and I’m excited to try it out for a similar vibe (see below).

The kick-off party for the event had a western theme, so I let my boots represent. Being from Texas, you would think I’d wear a lot of cowboy boots, but no, I haven’t really worn any in years. These boots added just a hint with the cut and detail around the ankle. I wore faux leather pants from Walmart that were cropped with a wide leg. I thought they were perfect with the mesh top. I spotted a sheer top from Target (see below) for $20, which had a rhinestone detail. I thought it looked like something that could be worn with jeans or dressed up for the holidays. It is also available in tan (which is what I ordered).
